I. am officially a B.A Mamma Jamma!

After years and years of contemplation...

I DID IT!

MOMMA GOTS HER A TATTOO!!!

Oh yes I did!

I documented as best I could.  It hurt.

It REALLY freakin hurt!

But.

I persevered {because, let's face it, once it began.. I HAD no choice!}

&

I LOVE IT!

ok, so here's the low down.

I finally made my final decision about my design. (a feat in and of itself bc I am SO indecisive! Go me!) I wanted a Queen Bee. I am the "Queen" of many things.. Queen of the directionally challenged, Queen of Chaos, Queen of Indecisiveness, Queen of Comedy (I mean com'mon... I find myself QUITE hilarious!), Queen of dieting, and the Queen of wonkiness! OH and in my house, I am sarcastically loving referred to as the Queen. I have my Queen chair at the table, I rule the roost {or so I have successfully convinced myself}, I. am. the Queen. Period.  And I happen to really love bees!  So there ya go.  Plain and simple. Not mushy. Not gushy.. just is what it is.

My girlfriend, Teresa, came with me to True Blue Tattoo in Austin.  We (yes, WE) were hoping to get in to see Cara. She is amazing and we were both going to get a tat by her! Good times, right?!  Well, as it turned out, she was booked.  Solid.  And since I already had all my nerves in a bundle sitting daintily in the pit of my stomach and had at least a dozen or so "crap my pants scared" moments I was NOT. leaving without my tattoo!
No way, no how!

Enter: JIM  (totally forgot to snap a shot of him in the shop. Can't imagine why! ;) Here's his site pict)

He is quite the fella.  VERY funny!  I liked him.  He was my kinda kooky! We bonded.

We had a discussion. I told him what I wanted, we looked at pictures, and he began to draw.

This [long] process began to calm my nerves.  He was meticulous. I was thankful!

But then, I got a little nervous when we made our final selection size, and that it was going to be in color!
Ok. maybe I was a lot nervous!

He sat me down... cracked a few jokes... said a few (or a couple few) cuss words...  got himself ready... got me ready...

and began.

I'm doing this!!

I'm really freaking doing this!!!

HOLY SHITBALLS, THAT HURTS!!!!!

Umm, yeah.. so I think I'm rethinking the whole color thing!!  I damn near didn't make it thru this alive!

(ok, so I'm totally stretching the truth here.. but you really have no idea how much pain I was in so I tried to give you a visual)

But Jim... yeah, he had other plans!!

I am sooo glad he did!!

because I LOVE IT!!

 * if you notice the color of the bee... it's red. not yellow. I was bleeding. quite disgustingly.

And in a couple weeks, when the colors settle in.. it'll look even better!!!

Meet my QUEEN BEE!!  She's pretty badass.

Thanks, Jim!  Maybe we'll meet again some day  ;)

hugs.

I have issues.. of the best kind!

Oh dear heavens... WHAT have I gotten myself into?!?

I am literally coming out of my skin, I am so freakin excited!! BUT.  I am a Nervous Nelly!!  (have I mentioned I am a Gemini!! Not that I believe in all the hocus-pocus, but I def have 2 sides of me at odds all. the. flippin. time! I live in a constant state of indecisiveness! ... on the one hand.. blah! blah! blah!.. but on the other hand.. blah! blah! blah!  hahahaha)

Ok, so here's what all the excitement is about~
I. am decorating my brother's corporate apartment in NOLA next weekend.... SITE UNSEEN!  As in, I've never been to his apt. Ever.  Sure, I have a few random snap shots to go by my mother took, but no measurements, no layout... no nuthin! {And by apartment, I mean I am focusing primarily on the entryway, living room and kitchen}

With the exception of his style direction "New Orleans elegant grunge"... he has given me FULL REIGN!! I was told, and I quote, "do yo thang!"  Oh you bet I will, mister! Game ON!

He already has a couch and loveseat and I think a coffee table and end table ~ I'm not even sure! I do know his lamps are ghetto and frat looking so they'll be the first to get the ol' heave ho!
I have a $500 budget, which may sound like plenty.. but girlfriend!  It's pennies to a girl with champagne taste on a beer budget!  (I may have been accused of this on more than one occasion by more than one perosn! MAYBE~)
So, I've shopped every Goodwill within a 10 mile radius (because as I've mentioned before.. I rarely venture out the "loop" alone!)  I have been fortunate and found some pretty cool stuff!  I've also been to a couple garage sales and gotten lucky!

I don't want to show you all the goods before hand because I think it'll loose its grandeur! {see how I'm building suspense and excitement!}  I will take photos of the finished room and walk you thru what I've done.

But just so you have an idea, and because maybe it's a teensey bit torturous to taunt you, here's what I've gotten so far....

A pair of louvered shutters (55" in height)~ which I will paint and distress with black chalk paint!

An antique mirror ~ that's totally GORG and I soo wanna keep it for myself!!!

An iron mirror with scrollies

A column

A floor lamp

An iron Fleur de Leis

6 Black and gold frames to make a composition wall

A book with photos I will put in above mentioned frames

Tropical Greenery

3 pairs of candle sticks

Iron lanterns

A black "CAFE" sign

Baskets

Deep Blue "Velvet" drapes

Wall sconces

Shelves for the wall

An iron serving tray ~ which may or may not be hung on the wall ;)

I would like a rug, but that'll have to wait as the budget has been met and I will not purchase that item for a site un-seen project with no measurements! I ain't THAT ambitious OR talented, folks!!

So are you as excited as I am?!  Gaahhh!!!

hugs.

I am just a big chicken is all

Here's the story about my ALMOST tattoo!

I'm verklempted!  I truly am....

I have been saying that for my 40th birthday (which is June 6th in case you were wondering and thinking of getting me something), that I am getting a tattoo!  I know, I know!!  It's unexpected and out-landish in character for me, right?!  So I figured it's pretty dang perfect!

Well yesterday, I had the opportunity to go with several of my co-workers annnndddd.....

I. CHICKENED. OUT!!!

And not just chickened out... I'm talkin a FULL ON PANIC kinda chickenin' out!

Y'all... I 'bout made mehself sick with anticipation!  And to be honest, it quite surprised me because I was up until almost 2 am the night before researching my perfect font/design..what-have-you.. and then I couldn't do it.

So I am sure you're all wondering what my big ol'chicken butt WAS gonna get and where.

Picture it... Along the outside of my foot, just below my ankle, was going to say " I am my King's ".   My original thought was "be still and know"... after Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God~.  But after much mental debate, I decided on the later.
My middle daughter has a purity ring that says "I am my King's, and my King is mine" and I soo LOVE that!  For me, all un-pure and such, it's a reminder of my worth and where I belong in this crazy world!  Both sayings have great meaning to me so either would've worked for my personal use, but I could picture me always feeling like I had to explain "be still and know".... and I really don't care to have a repetitive conversation with that many people.  I thought about having a shirt made with the explanation but then every one would be looking at my boobs and I didn't want that either, so... I went with the self-explanatory saying.   Well, I almost did anyway!  :\

Plaah~lease tell me you've had a BIG-OL-DELFATED-ALMOST-DID-IT-CHICKEN-MOMENT too!!

Amendment

{to my earlier (as in 5 hrs ago) post... I'm going with my original thought! Took a family tally and it won out! See... this is the "chicken" part for me... it's a big final decision and I'm an indecisive person!  Gah!!}

A German award awarded!

Oh my gosh!!  There is no better feeling in the world than being noticed and appreciated! None. ESPECIALLY in the blogging world! It's really a much bigger deal than one may realize~
There are SOO many wonderful, talented, amazingly unique blogs out there. And Lori, at The Stonybrook House, not only noticed and appreciated my blog, but she picked ME for the Liebster Blog Award!!! Woo-woo!

My day has been MADE!! Thank you so much Lori, for this award!
For those of you who may not have heard of this award, she has given us some insight..
"According to Google:
"The origins of the Liebster Blog Award are somewhat unclear but the general consensus is that it originated in Germany.  Liebster means favorite or dearest, to showcase bloggers with fewer than 200 followers.  Upon accepting the award the recipient must then pass it on to five more blogs of note."

The guidelines for accepting and choosing others for this award are simple.  Pick your TOP 5 baby-bloggers, like myself... you know, the one's with fewer than 200 followers and that get'cha all giddy when you read a new post! Easy peasy!!

SO

Here are MY Top 5!

I have a secret.

Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I think we ALL have a secret fetish.  Maybe even one you complain about, but secretly love?!  (umm, yep. that'd be me!)
One that is kinda-sorta soothing to the soul.. Relaxesssss the miiiind.... Relieves stressssss....  *ac'hem!* Sorry about that... Ok.. what was I saying?!  Oh yeah.  Complaining about a secret love...

Here's what I'm talking about.

I am just-a-little-kinda-sorta obsessed with things I can push!  Always have been.

I'll bet you're thinking "Oh lawwd... she's officially loosin her mind!"

I assure you. I have not. (tho sometimes it's certainly debatable, this isn't one of those times)

You know what I mean..

I love things like  vacuum cleaners...

and lawn mowers....

Let's be honest, to punish my kids by making them do either of these two things would be waaaay more torcherous for me than for them... so that ain't happenin! ;)

and grocery carts; aka THE BUGGY. {My girls KNOW... they wanna push a buggy, they betta get they own!}

Side note:

If this lovely lady would've chosen a buggy over her basket... she wouldn't be in this predicament.

Repeat after me....

"Carts and buggys soothe... baskets stress!"

Now relax... and GO PUSH SOMETHING!

Your turn... and be honest.. it's just us here!  Do you have a secret fetish? .. one you complain about, but secretly love?!?

hugs,
k.
